Feb. 11th – No Church School this Sunday As become the practice at St. Michael’s there will be no church school this Sunday as it is a long weekend. The activity bags will be stocked and there will be a guide to the service for the older children on the table behind the pews.

Lenten Family Resource As Lent begins, you may like to have a resource to engage with your family. I have purchased one to pass along to those of you who would like one. They will be available this Sunday, Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday and on the first Sunday of Lent. I’m happy to share! (Here’s a wee description: “Seven weeks of family devotions that are simple, but meaningful. The seven devotions are based on Gospel readings from the Revised Common Lectionary for Lent 2018. Each devotion includes a brief reflection, discussion questions, an activity, and a prayer for each week.”
Feb. 18th – Church School & the Toddler Room resumes We’ll be back at it on Sunday morning! We’ll be implementing a bit more structure for the Toddlers and will also be trying a monthly gathering of the children in the service on this Sunday.
Family Tubing Event – 1pm to 5pm After the church AGM we’ll head out in a convoy to West Kelowna for an afternoon of tubing with a bonfire and S’mores. This is meant for families of children and youth to gather together for a bit of winter fun and fellowship. Please bring sleds and dress for the weather. The Hardy’s will arrange for the firewood and Amber will arrange for the S’more supplies. (We are not traveling to Big White as initially indicated due to concerns regarding the distance and the cost for families who don’t meet the criteria for the passes the church was given.)
Feb. 25th – Church School & Toddler Room
March 4th – Instructed Eucharist during the 10am service
Through Lent in Church School we will continue to follow the lectionary readings. If you have thoughts, questions, ideas or a will to be a part of Church School or the Toddler Room, please let me know. I am happy to come out to your home or to meet you for coffee if you would like.
OH! And here is a link to a blog post related to reading Scripture with children: https://www.
illustratedchildrensministry. com/2018/reading-the-psalms- with-kids/ The Psalms are a great place for any of us to start and the author of this post acknowledges some of the very good reasons why….at times when I have felt discouragement in my own faith journey, I’ve gone back to the Psalms to remind me I am heard, considered, and most helpfully – not alone in my struggle.
Peace be with you,
FFC at St. Michael’s
