The joint choirs of the Cathedral Church of St. Michael and All Angels (Anglican) in Kelowna, BC will soon be off on a tour of the England and Wales from July 26–August 9, 2017. Under the direction of conductor Matt Hill, the choir has been invited to sing in many prestigious venues such as Salisbury
Cathedral, Bristol Cathedral, Chichester Cathedral, and will visit Stonehenge Tintern Abbey, and many other evocative sites. There are 30 people going with the tour group. This is the first such tour arranged by St. Michael and All Angels. Another choir tour to France, for the year 2020, is already being planned.
To celebrate the choir tour, there will be two send-off concerts. All are invited to a free concert of the choir tour music on Friday, July 21 at 7 PM. A second concert, of solo voice repertoire from Britain, will be presented by Matt Hill on Sunday, July 23 at 4 PM. The second concert is by donation. Both events are held at the Cathedral of St. Michael and All Angels, 608 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, BC.
More information about the tour can be found by calling the Cathedral during office business hours or emailing. Media organizations needing more information regarding the event should call Matt Hill, the tour organizer.
This is a very special event for Kelowna representation, as we will be cultural ambassadors from this city in Canada’s 150th year!
Also, Shaw Cable TV will be filming a choir rehearsal and doing some interviews with the choir and Matt on Tuesday, July 18 at 7pm at the cathedral.
